DATING SAFETY TIPS
Meeting new people can be thrilling, but it's crucial to prioritize your safety in all interactions. Whether you're exchanging initial messages or meeting in person, using sound judgment and staying vigilant will help ensure a positive experience. While you can't control others' actions, you can take steps to protect yourself during your time on Falifi.
Online Safety
Never Send Money or Share Financial Information
Under no circumstances should you send money or share financial details, especially through wire transfers. Once sent, this money is virtually impossible to recover. Be cautious with any requests for financial assistance, and report such incidents immediately. For further guidance on avoiding romance scams, refer to tips provided by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission on their website.
Protect Your Personal Information
Avoid sharing sensitive personal information such as your Social Security number, home or work address, or specifics about your daily routine (e.g., your gym schedule). If you have children, be cautious about sharing information about them. Details like their names, school, or ages should remain private.
Stay on the Platform
Keep your conversations within the Falifi platform while getting to know someone. Our Safe Message Filters are designed to protect you, and users with questionable motives may attempt to move the conversation to text, messaging apps, email, or phone prematurely.
Be Wary of Long-Distance and Overseas Relationships
Beware of scammers claiming to be from your country but currently abroad, especially if they ask for financial help to return home. Be cautious if someone avoids in-person meetings or phone/video calls, or if they push for a serious relationship too soon—these can be red flags.
Report Suspicious and Offensive Behavior
If someone crosses boundaries or violates our terms, we want to know. Block and report anyone involved in:
Requests for money or donations
Harassment, threats, or offensive messages
Inappropriate or harmful behavior during or after meetings
Fraudulent profiles
Spam or unsolicited commercial content
You can report concerns from any profile page or messaging window. For more details, review our Community Guidelines.
Protect Your Account
Choose a strong password and avoid logging in from public or shared computers. Falifi will never request your username or password via email—report any such requests immediately.
Meeting in Person
Don’t Rush
Take your time to get to know the person before arranging an in-person meeting. Ask questions to identify potential red flags and consider a phone or video call as a preliminary screening tool.
Meet in Public and Stay in Public
For your initial meetings, choose a well-populated, public location. Avoid private settings, including homes, and end the date if you're pressured to move to a private area.
Inform Friends and Family
Share your plans, including the time and place of your meeting, with a friend or family member. Ensure your cell phone is fully charged and with you at all times.
Control Your Transportation
Arrange your own transportation to and from the date, allowing you to leave whenever you wish. Having a backup plan, such as a ride-share app or a friend, is a smart precaution.
Know Your Limits
Be aware of how alcohol or drugs affect you and stick to your comfort level. If pressured to consume more than you're comfortable with, firmly decline and end the date if necessary.
Keep Drinks and Personal Items Close
Always keep your drink in sight and accept only drinks that are prepared or served directly by a bartender or server. Keep your phone, purse, and any items containing personal information secure.
If You Feel Uncomfortable, Leave
Trust your instincts. If you feel uneasy, it’s okay to end the date early. If you're in a situation where you feel unsafe, seek help from the bartender or server.
LGBTQ+ Travel
Exercise Caution While Traveling
While we support all gender identities and sexual orientations, some countries have laws that can affect LGBTQ+ individuals. Research local laws and legal protections before traveling. If you're in a potentially unsafe area, consider toggling off “Show me on Falifi” under your settings.
Adjust Your Visibility
If you've added a sexual orientation to your Falifi profile and are in a region with restrictive laws, we will temporarily hide this information to protect you.
Be Extra Cautious
In some countries, dating apps may be used for entrapment or legal repercussions related to same-sex communications. Consult ILGA World for the latest laws and consider supporting their research.
Sexual Health & Consent
Protect Yourself
Using condoms correctly can reduce the risk of STIs like HIV. Be aware that some STIs, such as herpes or HPV, can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact. Vaccinations can also help lower the risk.
Know Your Status
Regular STI testing is crucial as many STIs don't present symptoms. Stay informed about your health and prevent the spread of STIs.
Communicate
Discuss sexual health and STI testing with your partner before becoming intimate. In some areas, it’s a legal requirement to disclose STI status.
Consent
Consent is essential for all sexual activity and should be ongoing. Ensure that both partners are comfortable and willing at all times. Consent can be withdrawn at any moment, and sex is never obligatory.
